Personalized purchases raise practical questions: where will the wording appear, which font can the shopper choose, and what changes the price? Algoshop AI Sales Chatbot gives shoppers a place to ask shopping questions. A product customizer addresses the visual part of the decision. Podifai brings text, uploads, visual options and pricing onto the Shopify product page; that is its role here, not a claimed integration with Algoshop.
Podifai is a Shopify product customizer for collecting personalization choices and showing configured, layered 2D previews. Its official resources explain how the preview, conditional fields and option charges fit together. They also establish important limits: a preview is not a physical production proof, and not every feature suggested by broad marketing language is confirmed by the detailed documentation.
Separate the stocked product from the customer's design
A Shopify variant identifies a stocked choice, such as a product's size or material. A personalization input captures something the customer wants added to that item: wording, a selected font or an uploaded image. Keeping these roles separate prevents a custom message from being treated as a new stocked item.
Podifai's dynamic-pricing guide makes this distinction explicitly: use native variants when individual choices need Shopify inventory tracking; use option charges where personalization adds a cost to the same underlying product. Its listing also advertises Shopify variant inventory and hiding out-of-stock options. That does not establish the inventory behavior of every possible custom combination.
For an engraving business, the physical blank still needs to be identified correctly. The text tells production what to add; it does not replace the selected material or size. For a gift set, separate fields can identify the personalization for each piece instead of leaving staff to interpret one undifferentiated order note.
Show the design before asking for the purchase
The live-preview documentation describes background images with independently configured text and image layers. A merchant positions those layers on the product image; supported customer selections then update them. Text and image fields can contribute directly, while font and color controls can be linked to the relevant text.
The background can use the first Shopify product image, a custom image, a blank canvas or the selected variant's assigned image. With Variant Image, Podifai follows the active variant—not any unrelated gallery photo the shopper clicks. If a variant lacks an assigned image, the documented fallback is the first product image. Consistent composition and aspect ratio help keep personalization aligned when the background changes.

| Customer decision | Documented presentation | What to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Wording on an item | A text layer with its own position and styling | A clear label and a real decoration area |
| Lettering style | A font control linked to the text | Fonts your production process can use |
| Customer artwork | An upload associated with a preview layer, where enabled | File guidance and an appropriate background |
| Different product surfaces | Configured, switchable 2D views | A labeled background and layers for each surface |
| Stocked appearance | The selected Shopify variant image | Correct variant images in Shopify |
Inline and popup presentation support different product-page needs. The official preview page describes inline placement for shorter configurations and popup presentation for a more focused workspace; popup uses the full screen on mobile. Neither mode automatically makes a complex offer easier to understand. Keep labels concise and put the most important choices first.

See the personalization choices alongside the product preview before placing an order.
Multiple Views supports separate configured sides or angles, rather than a 3D object. The documentation describes one to five switchable views, each with its own background and layers. Earlier selections persist when the shopper changes views. This is useful when wording belongs on one surface and an upload belongs on another, but each surface must be deliberately configured.
Some details need no visual layer. The documentation lets a merchant disable Live Preview for an option while still collecting its value with the order. A production note or an instruction for a surface that is not shown can therefore remain a labeled input rather than being misleadingly placed on the visible image.
Build an offer the workshop can fulfill
Start with an actual product and an actual production process. Decide which text, fonts, colors and surfaces your business can provide before building the form. The customizer should express that offer, not suggest options that the workshop cannot fulfill.
Podifai's published Leovia customer story supplies a documented example rather than a fictional order. The Australian leather-gift business uses separate engraving inputs for a wallet and key pouch, with character limits, visual font choices and an on-page preview. Leovia retains a human review before engraving. These are Leovia's product settings, not universal Podifai defaults.
The lesson is the separation of responsibilities: the customer expresses a choice, the page helps them review it, and the production team still checks the job. Another merchant should choose limits based on its own available space and decoration method, not copy another store's character count.

| Offer decision | Merchant preparation | Customer-facing benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Which piece is personalized | A dedicated label for each physical item | The shopper knows where each text value belongs |
| Permitted lettering | A production-supported font selection | The preview offers usable choices |
| Length and placement | Limits and layout appropriate to the item | The customer understands the available space |
| Visual representation | A realistic product background and configured layers | The design is easier to inspect before purchase |
| Final review | A defined staff check before production | Ambiguous or unsuitable instructions can be resolved |
Use conditional options to remove contradictory choices
Podifai's conditional-logic feature guide describes showing or hiding an option according to an earlier selection. This is useful when only one personalization method needs an upload, or when additional instructions apply only after a customer selects a service.
The guide specifically limits this to rules on a customization surface, not a multi-step configurator. It also describes conditional dependencies up to three levels deep. Keep rules understandable: the buyer should see why a new field appeared, and staff should be able to trace the choice that made it relevant.
For a merchant offering an optional image service, the planning question is straightforward: should the upload be requested only when that service is selected? That is a design recommendation, not evidence that a particular store has configured the rule correctly. Confirm the actual behavior when switching choices and returning to a previous selection.
Show-and-hide logic alone does not prove what happens to a previously uploaded file, a hidden value or a related charge. Inspect the final saved details and price after each change. Clear labels help too: specify which product surface or purpose the file belongs to instead of asking for an unexplained attachment.
Explain every price change before add to cart
The official pricing resource supports fixed surcharges and linked Shopify product or variant prices. Percentage adjustments and shopper-entered quantity pricing are not currently available according to that resource. Do not design an offer around those unsupported formulas merely because the listing uses the broad term dynamic pricing.
A paid option can represent a real extra service, material or component. Use the price your business has established; the app does not determine what engraving, packaging or a premium material ought to cost. Put the extra charge near its choice so the buyer understands why the configured total changes.
Price review — follow the configured purchase

Cart and checkout
Review the same configuration through the purchase, including currencies and discounts used by the store.
This is a launch checklist, not a sample bill or a measured Podifai order. Its purpose is to keep the selected service and the charged amount understandable at each stage. The official guide recommends testing currencies, discounts, loyalty apps and other price-based widgets together before launch.
Create a production handoff from the purchased design
Separate customer choices, on-screen visualization and production-ready artwork. They are related, but they are not the same deliverable.
There is a material inconsistency in Podifai's public information: the App Store listing advertises high-resolution print files, while the detailed live-preview feature page says the product does not currently generate print-ready production files. Until Podifai confirms the applicable capability, do not plan production on the assumption that an automatically generated, machine-ready file will be supplied. Confirm the required file workflow with the developer and your production supplier.
The documented preview workflow does establish that customization selections are saved with the Shopify order. The setup documentation also says text and uploads remain in Shopify admin order information and the Podifai Orders tab when a field's visual preview is disabled. That makes the collected instruction useful even when it should not be drawn on the visible product image.
| Handoff item | What the team should confirm |
|---|---|
| Order and item reference | The instructions belong to the correct purchased line |
| Physical variant | The selected blank matches the decoration request |
| Text and style | The exact submitted wording and supported lettering are available |
| Original upload | The staff member can access the correct customer-supplied asset |
| Preview reference | The image represents the configured choices rather than production certification |
| Production artwork | The responsible person prepares and checks the output accepted by the supplier |
| Paid extras | Purchased services match the work and packing required |
Cart thumbnails are not a universal, zero-setup promise. The documentation says the final cart preview needs a separate theme modification and points to a tested Horizon snippet with checkout limitations. Check your own theme and checkout behavior instead of assuming every advertised preview appears automatically.
Keep one current design ready for production
Leovia's documented process retains human review, which is a useful reminder that a storefront preview does not replace production quality control. A visual engraving effect communicates an appearance; it does not certify the depth, physical finish or machinery settings.
As a merchant workflow recommendation, keep the original customer upload separate from any artwork staff prepare for production. If the supplied image is unsuitable, resolve the issue before beginning the job. Record the agreed replacement and use your own approval policy for changes. These are operational safeguards, not a claim that Podifai includes a revision-approval system.
The same distinction applies to two custom items that share a stocked variant. Review which instruction belongs to each purchased item instead of treating a quantity as proof that every unit has the same design. Test the actual cart and order records for the offer you sell.
For the staff-side stage, see the Orderline production guide. It covers a separate order-management workflow; no Podifai–Orderline integration is asserted here.
Launch one product through one real handoff
Podifai's published setup sequence is to connect the Shopify store, create or adapt a customizer and activate it for the intended products. Begin with a product your team already understands, then inspect the complete customer-to-production path before adding more products.
Check the selected variant background, text and font layers, relevant conditional fields, current charges, submitted values and accessible uploads. Repeat on mobile and desktop. If enabling customer-side layer movement, the documentation identifies theme image zoom and gallery sliders as possible click conflicts; test that interaction on your actual theme rather than treating it as universally compatible.
Next, ask the person responsible for production to use the resulting order information. Can they identify the item, the wording, the selected style and the source file without reconstructing the purchase from a customer conversation? Can they produce suitable artwork using the process you have confirmed? Those are concrete readiness questions, not invented conversion metrics.
Podifai's current App Store plans distinguish catalog capacity: Free lists three custom products, Starter thirty and Growth unlimited, with core features listed across the tiers. Choose a plan after confirming the workflow and any theme-specific setup, not simply because an unlimited catalog is available.
Podifai is most relevant when a merchant needs visual personalization rather than only a text instruction box. Start with its official product resources, configure a supported preview and pricing flow, and keep the final production check explicit.
