Rava Reviews official visual introducing customer photo and video reviews for Shopify

Rava connects review requests, customer media and storefront presentation. Official promotional content is not a measured result for your store.

Algoshop AI Sales Chatbot helps merchants answer questions before a purchase. After customers have used a product, their experiences can help the next shopper understand fit, practicality and expectations. A useful review program connects those experiences with the correct product, rather than treating star ratings as decoration.

Rava Reviews is a Shopify product-review app for collecting feedback, customer photos and videos, managing reviews and displaying them in storefront widgets. The official features page explains the workflow, while the demo shows how the presentation works with sample reviews.

For a merchant, the practical question is not simply “Can we show reviews?” It is how to request them at the right time, preserve their meaning, handle exceptions and make them useful on the product page. This guide follows that work from first setup to a repeatable operating routine.

Give each stage a clear owner

Reviews move through several different jobs. Collecting a review is an email and customer-experience task. Publishing it is a storefront task. Responding to a complaint is a support task. Learning that a size chart is unclear is a product-content task. If nobody owns the transitions, the program can produce a growing inbox without improving the store.

A practical review operating team

  • Store operations: request and reconcile

Maintain the request schedule, check which products belong to an order and investigate missed or duplicate requests. Keep the sending identity and reply destination recognizable to customers.

  • Customer support: respond and escalate

Answer experience-related concerns with empathy. Move order-specific details into a private support channel instead of asking customers to post addresses or other personal information publicly.

  • Product editor: improve the explanation

Look for repeated questions about fit, assembly or included items. Update the factual product description when it is incomplete; do not silently rewrite a customer's review to make the product look better.

The Rava listing includes requests, reminders, imports, replies, translations, moderation and analytics. These features support a review program, but the store still needs a publication policy and a named person for sensitive cases. A useful policy distinguishes criticism from abuse or personal information; it does not classify every low rating as a problem to remove.

Set up the storefront before asking customers

Rava's installation guide walks through enabling the app embed, adding reviews to the product template, importing existing feedback and scheduling requests. The published theme matters: saving a change in a draft theme is not the same as showing reviews to customers.

Begin by checking access to the theme editor and identifying which product templates the store uses. After enabling the app embed, save the theme and verify the state on a live product page. Repeat that check for products with a different template, not only the first product that happens to load. If the store changes themes, make the review embed and blocks part of the migration checklist.

A launch sequence that avoids an empty destination

  1. First: make the review surface usable

Check the product template, rating placement and review form on desktop and mobile. Confirm that the page a customer reaches is the intended product, not a generic collection.

  2. Next: validate a small content sample

Inspect imported or genuinely collected reviews, their images and their product association. Confirm that long text remains readable and that media opens without obscuring page navigation.

  3. Then: schedule requests around product use

Select an appropriate delay, test the message and monitor the first sends. Ensure the reply-to inbox is handled before scaling the request volume.

The official guide schedules requests relative to fulfillment. Choose the delay with the actual purchase in mind. A customer may be able to evaluate an accessory quickly; a skincare product or a made-to-order item may need more time. Fulfillment is an operational event, not proof that the customer has received or properly tried the product.

Keep the request simple. Mention the purchased product and ask for an honest experience. If a message includes several items, make it obvious which review belongs to which item. Customers should not have to infer the relevant product from an order number alone.

Migrate reviews without losing their context

The official features page describes imports from Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo, Stamped and Ali Reviews, or a Rava-format CSV, with a 100 MB file limit. It also describes downloaded review photos and exports that preserve useful review context. Migration deserves its own checklist because moving a spreadsheet does not guarantee that each row belongs on the correct product.

Retain the original export before making changes. Start with a sample containing ordinary text, media, an older review, a low rating and a product with multiple variants. Check how product identifiers match the current catalog. A renamed product or changed handle can turn a technically successful import into misleading customer-facing proof.

Migration checkWhat to compareWhy it matters
Product associationOriginal product and current product pagePrevents feedback appearing on an unrelated item
Text and dateOriginal comment and migrated recordPreserves the actual customer experience
Photos and videosMedia presence and viewabilityAvoids an empty gallery or broken attachment
Verification statusSource evidence and displayed labelA label should not imply evidence the store does not have
Incentive contextRewarded versus unrewarded feedbackKeeps the presentation transparent

Resolve exceptions before a full migration. Do not manufacture replacement reviews for missing rows, and do not turn a supplier's general product description into a customer testimonial. If the catalog contains discontinued products, decide whether historical feedback remains relevant to the current version before displaying it there.

Collect useful photos and product experiences

A photo or video can answer questions that a star average cannot: how a fabric drapes, how an item looks in a room, or what a useful close-up shows. Ask customers to describe what they actually experienced. Prompts such as “How did the fit compare with your expectations?” or “What would you tell someone buying this for the first time?” produce more context than a request for praise.

Rava Reviews supports customer media, reviewer discounts and referral workflows. If the store offers an incentive, make its conditions and disclosure clear. The goal is participation and useful feedback, not purchasing favorable ratings. Avoid writing a request that pressures a customer to change criticism in exchange for a reward.

Photo moderation needs a separate privacy check. An otherwise useful image may contain a shipping label, a child's identity or an unrelated person. Route those cases to a human reviewer. When explaining product claims, distinguish a customer's subjective experience from the merchant's factual specification: a review saying an item “feels waterproof” does not establish a tested waterproof rating.

Choose widgets by the shopper question

The Rava demo is useful for exploring display choices. Its sample content should be treated as a presentation example, not evidence of a real store's rating or conversion improvement. Select a widget based on where the shopper is and how much detail they need.

Swipe horizontally to read the full table.

Page momentUseful presentationEditorial question

Comparing a size or finishReview list with relevant detailCan customers understand the context of the experience?
Checking real-world appearancePhoto/video galleryIs the media clearly tied to the actual product?
Exploring the brandSelected stories or sliderIs this general brand feedback or product-specific proof?

Use restraint when combining displays. A rating summary, a gallery and a full review list can serve different jobs on one page. Repeating the same testimonial in several popups and sliders creates more visual noise without adding evidence. Check how the product page reads before adding another component.

On mobile, test long comments, media controls, pagination or expanding text, and the path back to the purchase section. If a gallery is attractive but slow or hard to close, the review experience can distract from the item it is intended to explain. Read the page with images unavailable as well: the accompanying text should still identify the experience being shown.

Use AI without replacing customer meaning

Rava's features page separates summaries and AI tools from advanced moderation, replies and translation. Treat an AI output as work that needs a purpose and an owner. A summary can help editors find a recurring topic, but it should not erase a minority concern that matters to a particular buyer.

For a reply, first decide what the customer needs. A complaint about a delayed order requires an operational investigation, not a polished paragraph about product quality. A sizing comment may call for a helpful acknowledgement and a private support route. Never let a generated reply invent a refund, promise a delivery date or disclose order information the reviewer did not publish.

For translations, compare a few representative reviews in the target language. Negation, sizing language and material descriptions can change the meaning of an experience. Keep the original context accessible where appropriate and distinguish translation from a new testimonial. Summaries should reflect both positive and negative themes rather than reading like merchant-written sales copy.

Compare free and pro around your workload

The Shopify listing lists Free with review emails for up to 1,000 orders per month, photo/video reviews, widgets and imports/exports. Pro is $9 per month with a 14-day trial, removes the monthly order cap for review emails and adds AI moderation, replies, translation and insights.

Choose a plan by the workload, not the number of widgets the store can place. A small store may need a consistent request schedule and good moderation habits more than automated replies. A larger store may need help triaging repeated feedback, yet still require manual escalation for sensitive cases.

There is also an important language distinction in the official feature details: storefront widget/form text is described in 17 languages, while Pro's AI review translation is described in 15. Translating interface labels is not the same as translating customer comments. Plan for each separately when building a multilingual storefront.

Turn review operations into product-page improvements

Once requests and display work, use reviews to improve what the store explains. Record recurring themes, the product involved and the action taken. A useful weekly routine is to review unanswered concerns, inspect new media, check request exceptions and identify one product-page clarification worth making.

For example, repeated comments that a garment runs longer than expected may indicate that the size guide needs a clearer measurement or photograph. The action is to verify the dimensions and improve the guide, not remove every comment mentioning length. Repeated assembly questions may justify a short instruction section or a support article. These are suggested operating examples, not reported Rava customer outcomes.

Keep evidence and action separate

  • Customer observation

Several reviewers describe difficulty choosing a size. Keep the original comments and identify the relevant product/version.

  • Merchant verification

Check the actual measurements, size guide and variant labels before changing any factual claim.

  • Store improvement

Clarify the page and monitor whether the same question continues. A clearer explanation is the objective; a higher star average is not the only success measure.

Rava's official documentation describes product rating markup and review feeds. Keep displayed reviews and product identities consistent with that data. Structured information can help search engines interpret a page, but neither markup nor an app installation guarantees that Google displays stars or that an AI assistant recommends the store.

Frequently asked questions

What does Rava Reviews do on Shopify?

It supports a product-review workflow from requests and customer media to moderation and storefront display. Review the app listing and official setup guide to choose the relevant features for your store.

Can a store bring its existing reviews?

The official site describes supported review-app exports and a Rava CSV route. Preserve the original export and verify product mapping, media and review labels on a sample before a complete migration.

Should review requests go out immediately after fulfillment?

Choose a delay that reflects delivery and meaningful product use. Fulfillment alone does not mean that a buyer has received the item or can provide an informed experience.

Should AI handle every negative review?

No. Use it to assist where appropriate, with a clear human escalation route. Complaints about orders, safety, personal information or disputed facts require care beyond a generated reply.

Will review widgets guarantee Google stars?

No. Correct structured information and consistent product/review content matter, but search engines decide how a result is displayed. Demo stars and sample metrics are not a promised store outcome.
